Privacy Policy
A legal disclaimer
This Privacy Policy explains how Lucid Element Therapy (“I”, “me”) collects and uses personal data from people who visit this website or contact me through the online form. It does not cover information shared in therapy sessions, which is covered by a separate client contract; privacy and confidentiality document information provided to clients.
This policy was last updated August 2026.
If you have any questions, you can contact me at: ed@lucidelementtherapy.com
1. Who looks after your data?
Lucid Element Therapy is run by Ed (Counsellor & Psychotherapist) and based in Lincoln, UK. For data protection purposes, I am the “data controller” for information collected through this website and its contact form.
In simple terms, that means I am responsible for how this information is held, protected and used.
2. What happens when you visit this website?
When you arrive on this site, a small stream of technical information flows in the background, for example:
Your IP address and location
Which pages you visit and how long you stay
The device, browser and operating system you use
How you found the site (for example: via search engine or social media)
This information is usually collected through cookies and similar technologies provided by Wix and any analytics tools I use. I use it to understand how people move through the site, so I can keep refining it into a clearer, calmer space to visit.
I do not and can not use this information to personally identify you.
3. Cookies and digital traces
This website is hosted on Wix, which uses cookies and similar technologies to:
Help the site function smoothly and securely
Remember certain preferences
Provide anonymous statistics about how the site is used
Support any basic marketing or search visibility tools I use
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Please be aware that blocking some cookies may affect how the site behaves.
For more detail on how Wix uses cookies, you can refer to Wix’s own privacy and cookie information.
4. When you reach out through the contact form
If you choose to send a message through the contact form, I collect the information you share there, which may include:
Your name
Your email address
Your phone number
The words you write in your message
Think of this as the first spark of contact. It helps me understand what you’re looking for and how best to respond.
Please only include information that is necessary for your enquiry. Try not to share detailed or highly sensitive information about your mental health or personal history in the form. If we decide to work together, I will provide a separate, more detailed client contract with a privacy/confidentiality part that covers therapy sessions.
5. How and why I use your information
I use the information you share through the contact form to:
Read and respond to your enquiry
Offer a consultation or appointment, if appropriate
Keep a simple record of our initial contact
I use website usage data to:
Understand how people find and move through the site
Improve the clarity, accessibility and feel of the pages
Support basic marketing and search visibility work
I do not sell your data or share it with third parties for their own marketing. Your information is not treated as a commodity, but as something to be handled with care.
6. Legal grounds for using your data
Under UK data protection law (including UK GDPR), I rely on the following legal bases:
Legitimate interests: to respond to your enquiry, manage my practice, and improve the website in ways that are reasonable and do not override your rights.
Consent: where you have actively chosen to contact me and provide your details, or where you have accepted certain cookies or preferences (where applicable).
You can withdraw your consent to be contacted at any time by emailing ed@lucidelementtherapy.com.
7. How long your information is kept
Contact form enquiries: I usually keep emails and form submissions for up to 1 week after our last contact, unless there is a clear reason to keep them longer (for example, if we are in ongoing conversation about starting therapy).
Website usage data: may be kept for longer in an aggregated, non-identifiable form for analytics and site improvement.
If we go on to work together in therapy, your information will then be held under my separate client contract, which I will share with you directly.
8. Where your data is held
This website is hosted by Wix, and some of your data may be stored on secure servers outside the UK/EEA, depending on Wix’s infrastructure and any integrated services (for example, email or analytics tools). Wix and its partners use appropriate safeguards to protect personal data when it is transferred internationally.
I also use secure email and password-protected devices (and, where possible, encryption) to access and respond to your messages.
9. Who your information is shared with
I may share your information with:
Service providers who help me run the website, email and related tools (for example, Wix and associated services). They are only allowed to use your data to provide their service to me and must keep it secure.
Professional or legal advisers if I need advice or support in relation to a complaint, dispute or legal obligation.
I do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
In rare circumstances, I may need to share information if required by law or if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of others. The fuller details of this are set out in my separate client contract, which applies once therapy begins.
10. Your data rights
You have a number of rights over your personal data, including the right to:
Access the personal data I hold about you
Correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
Request deletion of your data where there is no good reason for me to keep it
Restrict how your data is used in certain circumstances
Object to certain types of processing
Request portability of your data in some situations
To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at ed@lucidelementtherapy.com. I would need to confirm your identity before responding.
You can also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK: www.ico.org.uk.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Like the elements, things can shift over time. I may update this Privacy Policy occasionally, for example if the law changes or if I change how I use your data. The “Last updated” date at the top will show when it was last revised.
Please check this page from time to time to stay informed about how your information is handled.
